Honey-Sweetened Cranberry Sauce
Prep time: 5 minutes
Cook time: 15 minutes
Total time: 20 minutes
Makes: About 2 cups
Ingredients:
-
12 oz (about 3 cups) fresh cranberries
-
½ cup local honey, or to taste
-
½ cup water (or orange juice for extra zing)
-
1 orange, zested and juiced
-
½ tsp ground cinnamon
-
¼ tsp ground ginger (optional)
-
Pinch of salt
🥄 Directions
-
Simmer the base:
In a medium saucepan, combine cranberries, water (or orange juice), orange zest and juice, and a pinch of salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat. -
Add honey & spice:
Once the cranberries start to pop (about 5 minutes in), stir in the honey, cinnamon, and ginger. -
Cook it down:
Reduce heat and let it simmer for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and most berries have burst. -
Taste and adjust:
Add more honey for sweetness or a splash of lemon juice if you prefer it tart. -
Cool & serve:
The sauce will thicken as it cools. Serve warm, at room temperature, or chilled. It keeps well in the fridge for up to 10 days — or freeze for later.
