Happy National Honey Month!

Happy National Honey Month!

As the days begin to cool and the leaves start to turn, there’s one golden ingredient that feels perfectly at home in our fall kitchens: honey. Sweet, floral, and filled with natural goodness, honey isn’t just a pantry staple—it’s a centuries-old symbol of health, sustainability, and simple pleasure.

That’s why every September, we celebrate National Honey Month, a time to honor the hardworking honeybees and the liquid gold they create.

🐝 Why Do We Celebrate National Honey Month?

National Honey Month was established in 1989 by the National Honey Board to promote beekeeping and celebrate the incredible value honey brings to our lives—not just in the kitchen, but in agriculture, ecosystems, and even skincare.

It’s the perfect time of year to:

  • Support local beekeepers and honey producers

  • Learn more about pollinators and how to protect them

  • Experiment with new honey-based recipes

  • Replace processed sugar with a more natural, wholesome sweetener

🌻 Honey: A Natural Wonder

Honey is more than just sweet—it’s rich in antioxidants, contains trace vitamins and minerals, and even has antimicrobial properties. It’s been used for centuries for everything from sore throats to skin treatments to baking and preserving.

Plus, no two jars of honey are exactly alike. The flavor, color, and aroma depend entirely on the flowers the bees visit—from light, mild clover honey to rich, dark wildflower or buckwheat honey. That’s part of what makes it so special!

By choosing honey, you're also supporting vital pollinators that help grow the food we eat and keep ecosystems thriving. Bees are responsible for pollinating nearly 1 in 3 bites of food we consume. Pretty amazing, right?

So let’s celebrate the humble honeybee, savor the sweetness of the season, and make September a little sweeter—one drizzle at a time. 🐝
