DIY Beeswax Christmas Candles

There’s something magical about the soft, golden glow of beeswax candles—especially during the holiday season. Whether you're looking for a relaxing afternoon project, heartfelt homemade gifts, or a festive activity to share with family, DIY beeswax candles are the perfect choice.

🛠️ What You’ll Need

You only need a few supplies—most are easy to find online or at your local craft shop:

Materials

  • Beeswax block or beeswax pellets

  • Candle wicks (cotton or hemp)

  • Essential oils (optional—though beeswax smells lovely on its own)

  • Candle molds or heat-safe jars

  • Decorative items: dried orange slices, cinnamon sticks, ribbons, twine

Tools

  • Double boiler (or a pot + heat-safe glass bowl)

  • Thermometer (optional, but helpful)

  • Scissors

  • Stirring spoon

🎄Poured Beeswax Jar Candles (Classic and Cozy)

1. Melt the beeswax
Place beeswax pellets in a double boiler and melt over low heat. Beeswax melts at around 62–64°C (144–147°F).

2. Add optional essential oils
Once melted, stir in festive scents like:

  • Orange

  • Cinnamon

  • Clove

  • Fir or pine

3. Prepare your jars
Use a glue dot or a bit of melted wax to stick the wick to the bottom of your jar. Keep the wick centered using a clothespin or chopsticks.

4. Pour the wax
Slowly pour the wax into each jar and let them cool completely.

5. Trim the wick
Cut to about 1 cm before burning.

These make beautiful hostess gifts or stocking stuffers—and they smell exactly like Christmas.

Festive Decorating Ideas

Take your beeswax candles to the next level with these Christmas touches:

  • Wrap jars in burlap and lace

  • Add dried fruit slices and cinnamon sticks tied with twine

  • Sprinkle gold mica powder on top before the wax sets for a magical shimmer

  • Create labels like “Holiday Spice,” “Winter Woods,” or “Warm Honey Glow”
