Every September, our beekeeping team packs up the honey, loads up the van, and heads south—not for vacation, but for one of the biggest events of the year: The Big E!

If you’ve never heard of it, don’t worry—you’re not alone. But once you know what the Big E is, you’ll see why it’s such a big deal (and why we’re always so excited to be part of it).

🎡 So, What Is the Big E?

The Big E is short for The Eastern States Exposition—a massive, multi-state fair held each fall in West Springfield, Massachusetts. It’s one of the largest fairs in the country and draws nearly 1.5 million visitors each year from all across New England.

What makes it special? The Big E celebrates all six New England states—Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, and Maine—under one giant fairground. Each state has its own historic building on the fairgrounds, known as the Avenue of States, where you’ll find local food, crafts, businesses, and culture from each region.

🐝 Why We’re There (and What We’re Bringing!)

As a proud Vermont-based beekeeping business, we’re honored to represent our state inside the Vermont State Building at the Big E. We’ve been attending for several years now, and every time, it’s a highlight of our season.

Here’s what you’ll find at our booth:

📚 Beekeeping education – we love chatting about bees and answering questions!
👋 Friendly faces from the farm – come say hi!

We also love meeting fellow bee lovers, catching up with longtime customers, and introducing new folks to the incredible work that honeybees do—not just for honey, but for our entire food system.
